Mid Atlantic SIG

Mid-Atlantic Genealogy Special Interest Group

SIG Leader: Chris Smith and Linda McConnell
Email: midatlanticsig@fxgs.org

Purpose: The primary geographic areas covered by the Mid-Atlantic SIG are Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey,  Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. To the extent of interest, the SIG will also cover New York City.  SIG meetings will focus on different research techniques members wish to share and how to help each other break down brick walls. Though topics will mostly relate to the Mid-Atlantic region, the group may occasionally wander further afield if our Mid-Atlantic research leads to other places.

Meetings: Meeting are held the first Monday of the month by Zoom only from 2-4pm. Our meetings are open to all — you do not have to be a member of the Fairfax Genealogical Society to attend. Participants range from beginners to experienced experts.

Program Schedule: Generally our topics are driven by the interests of group members. Topics range from open discussion to presentations by regular group members and invited outside speakers.  An email will be sent out to all SIG members approximately 5 days in advance of the meeting date that will include the meeting topic and any handouts provided by the presenter(s).
