The Virginia Beach Genealogical Society presents:

Migration Through the South

By Jim Thornhill

Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 6:00 pm EST

Location: Hybrid

(In-person at the VB Central Library and via Zoom)

Ever wonder how your ancestors got here? What did they go through during the trip? This presentation will explore how and why our ancestors migrated from Europe to the Mid- Atlantic and along the Gulf Coast.

Jim Thornhill is chief researcher for Heroes of the Past, a company that seeks to delight clients, provide context in our ancestor’s lives, and show how we all have Heroes in our Pasts. He is a graduate of the ProGen professional genealogy course, the Genealogy Proof course, and has taken several tracks at the Texas Institute for Genealogical Research. Jim is a native Texan who has been living in the Dallas area his entire life and has roots in pre-civil war Texas and Mississippi.
