About this event
In Small Things Forgotten in Probate Inventories Probate records are among the most beneficial records in genealogical research. One element of the probate process is often underestimated by beginning and even intermediate genealogists. Inventories are a gateway to envisioning the family life of our ancestors. Inventory items can generate historical, cultural, and socioeconomic meaning. When the last will and testament is lost, an inventory can aid in determining an estimated date of death. Hear the story of the restoration of an historic home through an inventory. Come and practice the art of analyzing inventories. Probate inventory records can transform the picture of an ancestor’s life from black and white into vivid color.
