About this event
Presentation Description: This presentation explores migration patterns of those who migrated from the Mid-Atlantic region to places westward. Participants will learn about the economic, social, and political factors driving these movements, including land opportunities, industrial growth, and cultural shifts. Using maps, historical documents, and case studies, attendees will learn about tools to trace their ancestors’ footsteps and uncover the stories behind their journeys. The session will also address the challenges of tracking movements across the country, including changes in records, naming conventions, and shifting boundaries. Whether your family’s journey spanned a few miles or several states, this presentation offers strategies to strengthen your understanding of your ancestors' migrations.
