About this event
Description: Expect to gather tips and tricks on how to do genealogy outside of the box in each of the following presentations in this hybrid (in-person and online via Zoom) event:
Using Your Research Gifts for Public Good: Lessons in Developing the Genealogy of a Community: Family historians can provide an invaluable service to the places in which they live. Learn the details of a long-term mission revolving around a collection of projects targeting a specific community with the overarching goal of spreading joy to residents year-round.
Incorporating University Libraries in Your Research Plans: University libraries have tremendous value for the genealogist and are worth the time investment. They can be accessed both on campus and off, and researchers need to be brought up to speed on what to expect when doing 21st century library research.
Navigating the World of Newspaper Research: Too many researchers are tentative, unsure, or overwhelmed when conducting newspaper research. There are massive amounts of material online in numerous databases, not to mention the need to incorporate offline microfilm and print resources into any research strategy. Time to bring clarity to the clutter.
This is a paid, hybrid (Zoom and in-person) event. Members pay $20 using the code on the Members Only Page. Non-members pay $40. Those attending in-person may also elect to purchase a $15 box lunch, if desired.
