About this event
We invite you to join us for the meeting of the FxGS Family History Writing SIG online Zoom meeting on Monday night, March 3rd, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The Zoom meeting room will open at about 6:30 pm. Feel free to come early to chat if you want.
While our female ancestors are often little more than a first name in our records, Julie Flake has used the diaries and letters of Sarah (Eve) Adams to prepare a manuscript about Sarah. It is intended for family and may eventually become part of a possible book about family members buried in a family cemetery in Augusta, Georgia.
Sarah, a widow at age twenty-seven, devoted her life to her family. Details of her life are preserved in her records, informing us how she met her husband and survived crossing the Atlantic during the War of 1812.
We welcome constructive criticism and look forward to your comments and suggestions. Please send Julie copies of your written review notes to her at juliemedlock12@gmail.com.
Julie’s manuscript on The Extended Family of John Adams was reviewed by SIG members in December 2023 and will be published in Familia: Ulster Genealogical Review later this year.
We are looking for manuscripts to review at the 2025 meetings (Apr 7, May 5, and June 2). Your participation is important in holding the meetings and sharing your experience in preparing manuscripts for family, friends, community archives and libraries, and publication.
If you wish to be added to the members' list to receive a copy of the draft manuscript by email and join the online meetings, please send your name and email address to SIG co-leader Sean Furniss at Sean.Furniss@gmail.com.
Copies of the 2016-2025 manuscripts, a copy of the current guidelines, and other files that may be of interest can be found in the Informational Guidelines in the DropBox folder at:
